The Argentine coach of the 'Tri' put an end to the rumors about the forwards he will take to Qatar and warned that he still doesn't have the names defined.

There is no going back. One of the mysteries that floated around the Mexican national team on the eve of the World Cup was cleared: coach Gerardo Martino confirmed that the 'Tri' will go to Qatar 2022 with only three forwards, so Raúl Jiménez, Rogelio Funes Mori, Henry Martín, and Santiago Giménez must step up.

The injuries of Jiménez and Funes Mori have given more minutes with the national team to Martín and Giménez, who are in a good moment with América and Feyenoord, respectively. The expansion of the final roster from 23 to 26 players seemed to open the door to the possibility of Martino calling up four forwards, but it won't be the case.

"We are in an inequality at the moment because there are two (forwards) that are able to play and two that are not," said the Argentine strategist in a press conference in Los Angeles. "In any case, it brings me satisfaction that we are not in scarcity problems, but it is clear that the four players will not go," he expressed.

The current situation of the 'Tri' forwards

Jiménez suffered a groin injury and has missed the last matches of Wolverhamtpon in the Premier League, while Funes Mori, who naturalized from Argentina, has been injured in his right thigh since mid-last month. Both are concentrated in California, but probably neither will play.

Henry Martín, on the other hand, is experiencing the best tournament of his professional career with 10 goals in the Mexican Apertura tournament, and Santiago Giménez, recently incorporated with Feyenoord in the Netherlands, has scored five goals in all competitions since his signing.

"As long as the four give me reasons, the decision will be complicated, I see it with pleasure," added Martino. "I always prefer the problem to be abundance and not scarcity, then the controversy will come and there will be more talk about the one who doesn't go than the three who did go," said the Argentine.
