Third straight victory for Guadalajara taking advantage of disappointing Pumas
Pumas reached eight winless games in the tournament after falling 3-1 to Guadalajara in Jalisco.
The visitor surprised everyone in the 2nd minute with a ball to space from Dinenno to Diogo, taking advantage of the Brazilian's speed and stride. He had just enough shooting position and made an unstoppable strike to the near post to put the Universitarios 0-1 ahead.
However, Chivas quickly found the equalizer through "Chiquete" Orozco, who scored his first goal in First Division with a header from Alexis Vega's cross to beat Gil Alcala in the 15th minute, making it 1-1.
The first half for the Rojiblancos was one of the best of the season. In the 19th minute, Alexis had a warning, and a minute later, Nico Freire cleared Vega's shot off the line. The night at the Akron was full of excitement.
It wasn't until the 37th minute that Alexis found reward for his persistence. With some luck, he scored a goal from a free-kick after a deflection from the wall to beat goalkeeper Alcala and make it 2-1 in favor of the Tapatio team before halftime.
The first half also gave us one of the most attractive collective plays of the season. It started on the wing with three back-heel passes from Alexis Vega to relieve the area, followed by a screen from Fernando Beltran. It continued with the opening from Angel Zaldivar and Isaac Brizuela with the cross that Alcala deflected into his own goal. The score was 3-1 in favor of Cadena's team before halftime, and Pumas were being outplayed in Zapopan.
Although Andres Lillini made changes and his team started to function down the left side with the entrance of Cesar Huerta, it was not enough to breach Jimenez's goal once again.
One notable event in the game was the red card shown to Dani Alves at the end by Diego Montano, who, without the need to go to VAR, but with the mere instruction of the responsible people, withdrew it and only gave a yellow card for a tackle on Alexis Vega.
15 goals conceded by Pumas in the last five matches, in contrast to Guadalajara, who has scored eight in the last three. They reached 15 points and have a pending match. The "Cadeneta" is more alive than ever in the Apertura 2022.
