Juan Ignacio Dinenno is one game away from equaling his worst goal drought with Pumas, as the feline forward has gone five matches without scoring so far in the current Apertura 2022, which is his second longest streak without a goal in Liga MX matches.
However, if the Argentine doesn't score tonight against Atlético de San Luis, he will equal the negative record he set in the Clausura 2022. Last season, Dinenno only managed to score three goals throughout the semester, all of which came in matchday 8 and 17.
Despite those three goals, the South American player appeared in 13 matchdays, as he missed another four due to various reasons. In that tournament, he went six matchdays without scoring a goal, from matchday 9 to 14.
Before that, his longest goal drought had been five matchdays without finding the back of the net, which occurred in the Apertura 2021, when he went five matches without scoring. In that semester, he scored five goals in five matchdays, but even that did not prevent him from having such an absence in the net, as it lasted from matchday 1 to 5.
Now, in this Apertura 2022, he has equaled that negative record and depends on scoring goals in San Luis to avoid reaching the tie of his worst mark.
And it's because since his arrival, Dinenno had never struggled so much to find the goal as he has in the last three semesters. In his first tournament in Mexico, the Clausura 2020, which was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, he only went two matchdays without scoring.
In the Guard1anes 2020, he went four matchdays without scoring, and in the Guard1anes 2021, he had another drought of two matchdays without finding the back of the net.
