A new edition of the Mexico City Half Marathon took place this Sunday, where we saw the Ramirez brothers, a Raramuri family who are not unknown in the sports world, as they not only compete nationally but have transcended borders.
Lorena, Juanita, Talina, Mario, and Antonio Ramirez are the five siblings who have decided to represent their community and our country in different parts of the world. However, they do not have much support, so through donations and product sales, they obtain funds to finance their races.
The first contingent of the Mexico City Half Marathon 2022 sets off, with Raramuri runners leading the way.

And since any trip for a competition is not cheap, the Ramirez family decided to start a business with the Treya brand to sell products and thus cover their expenses.
“More than anything, it is for the support of the runners, for the entire Ramirez family; everything that comes from sales, from profits, is dedicated to them, so that they can compete in different parts of the world like the trip they made to the Czech Republic (Antonio and Talina). There is no other benefit or benefit plan," explained one of the attendants at the Raramuri runners' stand at the Half Marathon in the capital city.
Among the items you can find to support the members of "light-footed" are t-shirts that cost 400 pesos, caps and visors for 250 pesos, and windbreakers for 600 pesos.
The Ramirez family usually competes in their traditional attire; women wear their traditional dresses and huaraches made in the Sierra Tarahumara, while men wear a loincloth and a t-shirt. Although for this occasion, they were seen wearing tennis shoes at the Half Marathon.
A Family of Champions
It is important to remember that the natives of Guachochi, Chihuahua participate in ultramarathons since running long distances is normal for them. Their last participation was in the Czech Republic, where Talina Lorena and Antonio attended.
Lorena achieved second place in the 60-kilometer race, Antonio was the winner in his category, while Talina finished in third place in her category.
