Cruz Azul intensifies negotiations with Arab club for Argentine center-back, agreement in place
Cruz Azul expects Al-Nassr to send the signed contract of Ramiro Funes Mori in the next few hours in order to finalize the signing of the Argentine defender, whom they expect to announce officially this same week.
Cruz Azul intensified negotiations with Al-Nassr for Ramiro Funes Mori this weekend, and there is already an agreement in place. However, as of Monday, the Saudi Arabian club has not sent the signed contract for the cement makers to finalize the purchase of the 'Mellizo'.
ESPN has learned that the signed contract details from Al-Nassr are the only thing missing for Cruz Azul to negotiate a new agreement with the team, which he will join as a free agent, after the Mexican team paid around one and a half million euros for Funes Mori to be released from his contract with the Saudi Arabian club.
Ramiro Funes Mori is set to be Cruz Azul's third reinforcement in the Apertura 2022, following the arrivals of Carlos Rotondi and Gonzalo Carneiro. However, they do not rule out a fourth signing for now, as there is a possibility that Santiago Giménez will be negotiated with Feyenoord in the Netherlands.
Just like the negotiation they have for Santiago Giménez with the Dutch team, the paperwork is expected to be completed this week for Ramiro Funes Mori to join Cruz Azul and strengthen the defense, an area that Diego Aguirre has insisted needs more players, as they currently only have Julio César Domínguez and Luis Abram.
For now, Cruz Azul, still with Santiago Giménez in their ranks, is preparing to face Atlético de San Luis in a match corresponding to the fifth round of the Apertura 2022.
