Joao Rojas injured during the second round match of the Apertura 2022
Rayados forward, Joao Rojas, will be out of action for eight to nine months due to the injury he suffered a few days ago, which means he won't be able to appear with the Monterrey team until March or April 2023.
Ángel Auad, the doctor who operated on the player who arrived at Monterrey as a reinforcement for the current Torneo Apertura 2022, said that the corresponding operation was performed on the forward and that he will now have to undergo the recovery process, which will imply missing the opportunity to be with the Ecuadorian national team in the next World Cup.
"He is currently in the postoperative period, he is calm, recovering from anesthesia, later on he will be moved to the room and we will start with exercises and therapy immediately.
"He underwent surgery on his left knee with a repair of the cruciate ligaments, which we all already knew were torn. The corresponding technique was performed in order to replace that injured ligament," said the doctor.
Joao Rojas was injured during the second round match of the Apertura 2022, in which Rayados faced America, and after the studies conducted, it was announced that he would undergo surgery, so the South American decided it would be in Ecuador.
Ángel Auad said that everyone hoped for the miracle that the player could recover in time for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, but it will take eight to nine months for him to be ready to return to the field.
"We all want the miracle of him making it to the World Cup, but there are protocols and schemes that we have to follow. Clearly, trying to accelerate his recovery is complicated, there is no flash rehabilitation or rapid rehabilitation.
"We have to wait for that tendon to integrate into the body and have a ligamentization effect, vascularize, fill with blood vessels in order to prevent it from tearing again, and that takes between 8 and 9 months," he said.
Pedro Luna, a doctor from Rayados who was in Ecuador for Joao Rojas' surgery, recalled that it was in the match against America when he was injured and that Rayados agreed to have Dr. Auad perform the operation.
"After the injury that occurred in the match against America, unfortunately we had to evaluate Joao's injury and after conducting the relevant studies, it was revealed that he had a cruciate ligament injury, so Joao asked us to have Dr. Angel Auad perform the surgery, which we fully agreed to, we told him he had our full support, he came with the doctor and performed the necessary surgery," he concluded.
