Uriel Antuna, a football player for Cruz Azul, expressed that the team supports Sebastián Jurado, who has been criticized for the mistakes he has made in the first two matches of the Apertura 2022, as he believes that the goalkeeper, who recently renewed until 2025, has saved the team's goal on several occasions.
"There will always be that demand in such a big club like Cruz Azul. I would like to tell them to be patient. Jurado is an excellent goalkeeper, an excellent teammate, he has saved us on many occasions, and well, that's how football is sometimes. I think we are also professional enough to accept that kind of criticism, and in the end, Jurado is very strong, he knows that we have confidence in him, and from what I have seen, the fans also believe in him, so we will continue to have that trust in him because he has it and he has proven it in many games. We have to be patient because we are all here to contribute to the club," Antuna declared in a press conference prior to the match against Atlas in the third round of the tournament.
Antuna stated that within the team, they remain oblivious to the subject of reinforcements and rumors about new signings for Cruz Azul, as they are focused on their work, leaving that matter in the hands of the management and coaching staff.
"I think that is being dealt with by the management and the coach. We are focused on ourselves. Whether reinforcements arrive or not, we are working one hundred percent, trusting each of our teammates and the coach. Whether they arrive or not, that is no longer up to us. We are going to work to get the results because that depends on us."
Finally, Antuna acknowledged that despite increasingly adapting to Diego Aguirre's style of play, they still need some adjustment to the Uruguayan strategist, as well as to Carlos Rotondi, the only signing that Cruz Azul has made.
"We are working very well, the team is increasingly assimilating the style of play that the coach transmits to us, we all have the same idea.
