Chivas is looking for a goalkeeper for the 2022 Apertura. After Raúl Gudiño's departure, the rojiblanco goal has a vacancy. However, within the Guadalajara team, they are already beginning to explore options. One of them is the name of Hugo González, a goalkeeper who is liked by the higher-ups of Chivas.

Sources have assured ESPN that the board led by Ricardo Peláez has already had an initial approach with their counterparts from Rayados, the team that owns González's contract, to inquire about the player's services. Chivas received a positive response from the Monterrey board to carry out the transaction.

The Mexican goalkeeper will report to Monterrey, although he is not part of the team led by Victor Manuel Vucetich's plans. After his time at FC Juárez, the border club decided not to exercise the buy option they had on the player.

The Rebaño used Miguel Jiménez as their starting goalkeeper in the Clausura 2022 and he was instrumental in the strong finish to the tournament that took Chivas to the playoffs, where they were defeated by Atlas, who tonight is playing the first leg final against Pachuca.

Despite Jiménez's good performances in goal, Guadalajara is looking to reinforce the goalkeeper position, after the club's youth system graduate, Raúl Gudiño, left the institution due to a failure to reach an agreement for the renewal of his contract.

On the other hand, Hugo González was unable to establish himself at Bravos de Juárez and lost his starting position in the final stretch of the tournament, so his arrival at the Rebaño would represent a new opportunity to demonstrate his worth between the posts of a big team.

The 31-year-old goalkeeper made his debut with América and has represented Monterrey, Necaxa, and Juárez in the Liga MX.
