The goalkeeper Alfredo Talavera does not accept Pumas' contract renewal proposal and is out of the capital team, as announced by the club through a statement
Alfredo Talavera and Pumas did not reach an agreement to renew the 39-year-old goalkeeper's contract, the club officially reported through a statement and made it clear that they intended to extend the bond between them.
"El Club Universidad Nacional AC shares that it has been working for months on the contract renewal of Alfredo Talavera, to whom a new two-year contract with the institution was offered, in addition to a substantial salary increase. Despite the efforts of the management, the player has decided not to stay in Pumas," explained the text.
Similarly, the player expressed his gratitude through the club and stated that it is time to seek a new path in his professional career, which he envisions as retirement.
"I thank in advance what they did for me. Now I must take this opportunity that presents itself in my career and thus conclude my stage as a footballer and continue with my life project," said the two-time World Cup goalkeeper.
Meanwhile, the auriazul team recognized Tala's dedication and professionalism over the past two years, during which he reached a Liga MX final and a Concacaf Champions League final.
Talavera brought defensive solidity back to a club that suffered for many years due to errors in the position. He even became the second-best goalkeeper in Liga MX.
At the moment, Talavera's arrival at a new team has not been officially announced; however, a few days ago, ESPN reported that the Bravos de Juárez offered him a contract to acquire his services.
