Javier Aquino Takes Fan Booing at Cruz Azul Philosophically, the Team He Played for Years Ago

Javier Aquino, a footballer for Tigres, was booed every time he touched the ball by the fans of Cruz Azul during the first leg of the Clausura 2022 quarterfinals. However, the player who forged his career at La Noria doesn't take it personally and assures that he holds no grudges against them. He also states that only he knows how he feels about La Máquina.

"It's no big deal. They play their game, I play mine. I'm very happy to be at Tigres. I hold a great affection for them, I believe that there may have been some misunderstandings at some point, but deep down inside, I know what I feel for the club, I know what I feel for this institution, and for all the people who supported me. At the end of the day, I don't hold grudges against them. If they want to boo me, that's fine, I don't ask for their support because I'm on another team and I'm very happy there," said Javier Aquino after Tigres defeated Cruz Azul, the club where he made his debut.

"Playing against them (Cruz Azul) is already difficult, the team is very dynamic, they have very fast players, and after the expulsion, we tried to defend more, to be alert, to be disciplined, and even so, they were able to create some chances, but I think the team did quite well, we remained focused and didn't make mistakes."

Aquino asks for the necessary recognition for the performance that Tigres had in the first leg of the quarterfinals against Cruz Azul, as despite playing with 10 men for more than half an hour, they came out with a 0-1 advantage from Estadio Azteca.

"We knew it was going to be a complicated match, we had a red card, and I think we should give some credit to what we did because we were left with 10 men for 30 minutes and I think the team did well, and now we have 90 minutes to reach the final."
