Prior to the match against Xolos, the Tuzos unveiled the box named after the 'Wall' at the Huracán
PACHUCA -- One of the boxes in the Tuzos Stadium has been named after Colombian Óscar Murillo since Monday. The South American center-back has been a pillar of the Hidalgo team for six years and is being recognized for that.
"A wall now protects the Hidalgo Stadium for life. Oscar Murillo immortalized in the Hurricane," Pachuca posted on their social media.
Murillo is considered one of the figures of Pachuca and is constantly called up to the Colombian national team. Before coming to Mexico, he had a stint in the MLS and was transferred to Liga MX after playing for Atlético Nacional in his country.
The Colombian defender is the longest-serving player in the Tuzos team and has had trouble reclaiming his starting position this season, having only played 199 minutes. He appeared as a starter in the match against Xolos de Tijuana.
Murillo has won a Liga MX tournament and a Concacaf Champions League with the Tuzos and will now try to help his team claim first place in Clausura 2022.
The 'Wall' is 33 years old and has played over 200 matches for Pachuca. Under Guillermo Almada, he has struggled to maintain his place in the starting lineup since matchday three.
It is a tradition for Pachuca to recognize their most representative players with a distinctive honor in the stadium. Now it's Óscar Murillo's turn, who will forever have his name in the Tuzos' stadium.
Pachuca needs to win in order to surpass Tigres and finish matchday 13 at the top of the table.
