Here are the phrases expressed by 'Cepillo' on the day of his presentation with the Rebaño, to establish if he fulfilled the promises he made as a rojiblanco reinforcement
After Chivas' official announcement about Oribe Peralta's departure, ESPN Digital reviewed the phrases expressed by the 'Cepillo' on the day of his presentation with the rojiblanca jersey to establish how much he fulfilled the commitments he made on the day he became the star reinforcement of the Rebaño.
Total failure not being a champion
Upon his arrival at Chivas, the experienced forward stated that he would seek to bring joys, goals, and titles to Guadalajara, as not being a champion in the rojiblanca institution should be considered a resounding failure.
"On that occasion in that program, I said that I would bring joys, goals, and titles to Chivas, and I will do my best to make it happen. It is a resounding failure for Chivas not to be a champion, so I will seek to be a champion," he said.
The rojiblanco forward only scored two goals and did not win any titles with Guadalajara, so in the voice of the fans themselves and considering the results obtained, his time at the Guadalajara institution was indeed considered a resounding failure.
Goals to compete for the title
Oribe Peralta emphasized during his presentation that his goals would be a factor for Chivas to compete for the title, so he established that the perfect contribution upon his arrival would be to score goals for the improvement of the team.
"I have always said that goals are the consequence of many other things, but I also know that the more goals I score, the better it will be for the team. It's a perfect balance that the team, not just me but all the forwards, score goals. We are all part of a team, I will try to contribute as many goals as possible for Chivas to be competing for the title," he said.
The veteran rojiblanco forward had an effectiveness rate of 0.06 percent, making him one of the worst forwards in recent years with Guadalajara, surpassing only Ángel Reyna, who had a 0.03 percent effectiveness rate in his time with Chivas.
Signings out of time
In his presentation, Oribe Peralta considered that his incorporation into Guadalajara was not out of date, as at 35 years old he still had the quality to contribute to the institution and leave a mark with his teammates.
"Look, I have always believed that everything happens when it is meant to happen, and if you think this signing is out of date, it is your perception. Everything is ultimately a matter of perception, but I am calm because I know that I can contribute a lot to the institution and leave a mark with my teammates. I don't think so (that it is too late)," he acknowledged.
Now, at 37 years old, the Guadalajara forward showed that his signing did not come at the right time, as his best version was seen with Santos and América, with reactions, reflexes, and speed being factors that led to Peralta's failure with the rojiblanco team.
Put Chivas where it deserves
Amidst multiple criticisms from fans regarding his career with América, Oribe Peralta acknowledged that the only way to convince the fans and prove that the directors did not make a mistake in signing him was through good performances and results to place Chivas where it deserves to be.
"To the fans, more than saying something, I have to show them, and that is done on the field, it is my only way to convince them that the gentlemen have not made a mistake. There is nothing left but to wait for this to start and with my teammates, take Chivas where it deserves to be," he stated.
Oribe did not have a good time with Guadalajara and failed to bring the Rebaño Sagrado back to the top positions to become a leading team.
