Miguel Layún reunites with his former team, Rayados, next Thursday, in the final of the Concacaf Champions League, while also seeking to catch the attention of Gerardo 'Tata' Martino to return to the Mexican National Team and fight for a spot in Qatar 2022.

"I hope so, my dream is to be in Qatar, I know the competition is tough. Since América the competition is tough, I compete with Jorge, a national team player, with a lot of talent and quality, I have no doubt that he will play in Europe at some point. 'Chaka' is doing things well, Araujo too, I never give up," said Miguel Layún, after defeating Tigres and securing the leadership of the Apertura 2021.

Layún must compete with Jorge Sánchez, Luis 'Chaka' Rodríguez, and Julián Araujo to consider Qatar 2022, in addition to not being called up to the Tricolor since 2020.

"I am still doing things to earn a call-up to the national team, compete for that position, and contribute in every way. I am in a stage of my life where I can contribute many things, and I will, if I return, I will contribute everything necessary to be in a World Cup again," commented Miguel Layún, defender of América.

Henry Martín rules out revenge against Monterrey

In the Apertura 2019, Monterrey defeated América in a final at the Estadio Azteca, now the Águilas have the opportunity to take a title away from the Rayados at their stadium, although Henry Martín, one of the goal scorers for the bluecreams, rules out it being a revenge match.

"I don't know if it's revenge or not, but it's a match we want to win," said Henry Martín, forward of América. "There are no grudges or anything like that, we win game by game, we go to the final, the opponent in front of us doesn't matter if we won or lost in the past, we're going for the championship," he added.

América will be playing for the title of the Concacaf Champions League against Monterrey at the BBVA Stadium next Thursday.
