The Costa Rican suffered a grade 3 ankle sprain that will keep him off the field for a month
The forward from Rayados Joel Campbell could be out of the field for a month and a half after suffering a grade 3 ankle sprain in the right ankle in Costa Rica's 2-1 victory against the El Salvador National Team in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers.
Through his social media, the Costa Rican striker lamented the injury that will not allow him to be available for the Champions League Final against America and it seems unlikely that he will be in optimal condition before the end of the Regular Phase of the Apertura 2021.
"Unfortunately, I will be out of the match against the United States and will not travel with the team... I trust 100% in my teammates and I am sure they will achieve a great result. God's timing is perfect. I will come back stronger, I have no doubts about that," wrote Joel, who accompanied the message with a photograph of the harsh tackle by Narciso Orellana.

In the Apertura 2021, he has played 417 minutes in nine matches, starting in four of them. With Campbell's absence, Javier Aguirre, the manager of Rayados, hopes to have Vincent Janssen in full physical condition, who has not played in the Liga MX since August due to a pubalgia.
Meanwhile, in place of Campbell and José Guillermo Ortiz, who is out due to COVID-19, coach Luis Fernando Suárez called experienced players Christian Bolaños, a 37-year-old right winger, and Álvaro Saborío, a 39-year-old forward, for the trip to the United States.
"It is important to highlight the type of match we are going to play, it is a match in which the team needs experienced players," said Suárez in a statement released by the Federation.
The Colombian coach expressed that it will be "a difficult match against a very good and tough opponent," but that Costa Rica will seek victory.
The match between the United States and Costa Rica is part of the sixth round of the Concacaf final octagonal, a tournament that awards three direct tickets to the 2022 World Cup and one for a playoff.
Mexico is the leader with 11 points, followed by the United States (8), Panama (8), Canada (7), Costa Rica (6), El Salvador (5), Honduras (3), and Jamaica (2).
