Juan Reynoso stated that he wants to continue at Cruz Azul and sign a defender, midfielder, and playmaker as signings
The future of Juan Reynoso at Cruz Azul is still undefined, but the Peruvian coach is willing to stay with the Mexican soccer champion team and wants the team to be reinforced with a defender, midfielder, and playmaker.
"In any negotiation, it depends on the willingness of both parties, which exists, and hopefully, we can maintain the squad and bring in two or three reinforcements," Reynoso said to ESPN.
"I think today we have to continue adding players of the level that Cruz Azul needs because it's not just bringing in players for the sake of it. We are happy with the core of the squad, but if two or three more players come, it would be an opportunity to fight for the championship again," he said.
The Peruvian coach provided details about the positions he wants to strengthen for the Apertura 2021 so that they can compete for the title again and potentially achieve a back-to-back championship in short tournaments.
"In defense, we need someone, a center-back/left-back, especially with Adrián (Aldrete) being injured and unable to train for several weeks; someone on the wings who can help us on both sides, and a playmaker, someone with a good shot, good link-up play, and a good final pass. These are the three positions," he stated.
He also talked about the possible departures and if he is concerned, especially regarding Orbelín Pineda and Jonathan Rodríguez, who have performed well for two tournaments and have attracted attention at the club.

"Yes, of course! They are a fundamental part, they are people who have already achieved things here, and that gives you an advantage. In the beginning, I had some concerns because I knew them but I didn't know them in tough situations, but they showed me in the matches against Toluca, Pachuca, and now in the final that the Cruz Azul shirt doesn't weigh them down. That's another plus," he explained.
"I talked a bit with Alexis Peña, who also has many offers. I told him that he will play more this semester, and hopefully, he will reconsider and stay with us because he has enormous potential. It's likely that Sebastián (Jurado) wants to play as well; if he stays, we would be happy, but we also put ourselves in his shoes, and he will want more minutes to continue growing and solidifying himself," he concluded.
