In addition, the goalkeeper from Laguna feels privileged to play in a final and hopes to emulate figures like Oswaldo Sanchez, Agustin Marchesin, and Jonathan Orozco
Santos goalkeeper Carlos Acevedo acknowledged his great admiration for Cruz Azul's goalkeeper, Jesus Corona, so prior to the first leg final of Guard1anes 2021, he recalled the day he met and asked for the jersey of the captain of the Celeste team.
"Of course, I approached Jesus Corona, from the first match I faced him, I went to greet him with a lot of affection in order to meet him for the first time, I asked for his shirt and we exchanged them, but it is an honor for me to be able to face him, to greet him, and that it is a great final for everyone," declared Acevedo.
Facing the great responsibility of defending the goal for Santos, the 25-year-old academy player ensured that he hopes to write his name in gold letters alongside players such as: Oswaldo Sanchez, Agustin Marchesin, and Jonathan Orozco, who won a title with the Lagunero team.
"I am very happy to be in the final, of the names you mentioned, in the case of Oswaldo Sanchez, Agustin Marchesin, and Jonathan Orozco, well I am privileged to be in a final and I am proud that besides being great professionals, they are great friends. I will seek, just like the team, with a lot of humility to win the series, play that role, and put my name in gold letters in the history of Santos, it would be something incredible for me, for the entire club, and for La Laguna, it is something that I cannot explain," he added.
In the end, Carlos Acevedo established that in addition to fulfilling the dream of playing for the team of his city, he hopes to become one of the references for the goal of the Mexican National Team.
"It has always been my dream to play for the team in my city, and I have many dreams and goals that I want to achieve. Being a reference for the club and also being a reference for the Mexican goalkeeping position, like Jesus Corona and the great goalkeepers in the national team, those are my dreams," he concluded.
