Tigres broke the transfer market with the signing of World Cup champion Florian Thauvin, a French player whose economic value surpasses several Liga MX teams.
Tigres officially announced the arrival of Frenchman Florian Thauvin from Ligue 1's Marseille. The 28-year-old winger becomes one of the most important signings in Liga MX history and proof of that is his value being above six Mexican squads.
According to the Transfermarkt website, Thauvin, 28, is valued at $34 million, an amount that exceeds the total value of the squads of six teams that participated in the Regular Phase of Guard1anes 2021.

Toluca ($32.6 million), FC Juárez ($31.2 million), Puebla ($29.2 million), Necaxa ($28 million), Mazatlán ($26.8 million), and Querétaro ($20.7 million) are the clubs whose squad costs are below the current value of Florian, who arrives in Liga MX three years after being crowned World Cup champion in Russia 2018.
Thauvin managed to have a positive 2020/21 season after missing almost the entire 2019/20 season due to undergoing an arthroscopy that kept him off the pitch for more than six months. The Frenchman finished the previous campaign with only two games played and a total of 20 minutes.
In the current season, Florian has been involved in 16 goals for Marseille (8 goals and 8 assists) and has accumulated 3,202 minutes in 42 matches. Interestingly, Thauvin joins Tigres as a free player, so the Mexican team did not have to pay a high sum to the French club.
On the other hand, regarding the six clubs whose total value is lower than Florian Thauvin's, only Toluca, Puebla, and Querétaro still have possibilities to fight for the Liga MX title.
