Finally Gabriel Achilier will not play for Alianza Lima, the Ecuadorian defender signed his contract with Orense, where he will play on loan this 2021.
Alianza Lima bought Achilier to strengthen their squad at the end of 2020 and the experienced player accepted to leave Liga MX, where he spent 5 years at Monarcas Morelia, to join the Peruvian club. However, Alianza Lima lost their category, which led the defender to decide not to play for the club.
"The intention is to join Alianza next year and play in the first division. I know they will put together a competitive team to be where they deserve. Without a doubt, joining would be special because of the effort the institution made to find me and have me at the club," said Achilier.
Throughout, the defender's idea was to play in Peru to be considered by Gustavo Alfaro, and the fact that the club plays in a lower division would be something negative for him: "Playing in the second division was not in my plans. I feel that I am a player of a very good level, that I have shown my quality, my worth. I also deserve to highlight it, one knows what they have done, what they have left."
Anyway, the player still belongs to Alianza Lima and has been loaned to Orense. That's why the 35-year-old defender concluded: "Unfortunately, due to the relegation issue, it couldn't be done, but we hope to be there next year."
