The deadline imposed on Rojo to pay the Mexican team has expired last Friday, and now they will have to comply with a more severe penalty

MEXICO -- America remains waiting to receive the payment of 6 million dollars owed by Independiente for the transfers of Cecilio Domínguez and Silvio Romero, as the Eagles have not received a single penny from the Argentine club so far.

Sources told ESPN that the deadline set by FIFA for Rojo to pay the Mexican team expired last Friday, and now they will have to comply with a more severe penalty from the governing body of world football. It is expected that the Argentines could receive a new economic fine and be unable to participate in the following transfer markets.

In previous months, the Argentines have presented several possible payment schemes to America; however, the Mexicans have not agreed because in the majority of those plans, the debt will be paid over several years, and the Eagles need their money as soon as possible.

On the other hand, the possibility of receiving a player in exchange has also not been accepted by the Mexican team because they consider that the price at which Independiente values their players is much higher than the actual price of their footballers. The most recent case is that of Alan Velasco, an 18-year-old youth who debuted in 2019, and the Devils want to sell him for over 20 million dollars, an amount in which America would have to give a very large difference to even out with the Argentines.
