The Mexican Kevin Estrada, the Argentine Pedro Canelo, and the Ecuadorian Michael Estrada cleared the way to Toluca's comeback victory over Querétaro by 3-1 in the first round of the Guardinaes Clausura-2021 tournament of the Mexican League.

The Diablos Rojos started off at a disadvantage with a penalty goal from Ángel Sepúlveda at 24 minutes.

Toluca generated two opportunities in the rival's area in the first few minutes, but from there Querétaro dominated.

Antonio Valencia and Jefferson Montero, both from Ecuador, made their debut for the Gallos Blancos, hired in November 2020.

At the 11th minute, the referee generated controversy by disallowing a goal from the visitors. From a service by Toño Valencia from the right side, the goalkeeper Luis García failed in the exit, and Sepúlveda pushed the ball with a right-footed shot, but the goal was ultimately disallowed.

Querétaro insisted and took the lead at minute 24 with Sepúlveda again.

The Gallos Blancos lowered the pace and paid for it. In the second half-hour, the home team reacted, took advantage in the middle of the field, and scored two consecutive goals. At minute 31, Kevin Castañeda scored with a right-footed strike from outside the box, and then Canelo scored with a pass from Estrada.

In the second half, Querétaro sought the equalizer, Toluca insisted on dominating the midfield, but there was no goal until minute 64 when Estrada accepted an assist from Canelo and scored the 3-1 with his right leg.

After that, the most remarkable thing was another controversy with the referee, who ignored a foul, once again in the box, that according to the video, could have been a penalty in favor of Querétaro.

In the second round of the championship, Toluca will visit Chivas de Guadalajara next Saturday, and Querétaro will host Atlas one day later.
