The goalkeeper of Cruz Azul completes a year without playing in Liga MX, his last match was when Veracruz lost to Chivas before the disaffiliation of the Tiburones.

Sebastián Jurado, goalkeeper of Cruz Azul, completes a year without playing in Liga MX. The goalkeeper, who arrived as a reinforcement to La Máquina for the Clausura 2020, has not played in Mexican football since Matchday 19 of the Apertura 2019, which the goalkeeper faced as a Veracruz player on Saturday, November 23, 2019.

That match against Chivas was the last one for the Tiburones in Liga MX, as later the team was disaffiliated due to debts. On that night, Jurado conceded three goals at the Estadio Akron, two by Alan Pulido and the last one was scored by Antonio Rodríguez, who with a clearance from his own area scored the final 3-1 in favor of the tapatíos.

Veracruz finished in last place in the Apertura 2019, a tournament in which they only accumulated eight points, with one victory, five draws, and 12 defeats. The Tiburones players suffered from debts, a situation that led to the disaffiliation of the team from Liga MX on December 5, 2019.

Cruz Azul announced Jurado as their reinforcement for the Clausura 2020 on December 19, despite having Jesús Corona as the starting goalkeeper, and Guillermo Allison and Andrés Gudiño as substitutes.

The transfer caused Jurado's value to increase from 1.50 million euros to 3.50 million euros, as despite the disappearance of the Tiburones, the goalkeeper became the star of the team with his constant saves.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper made his debut with the first team of La Máquina on February 19, but it was in the first leg of the Concacaf Champions League Round of 16, a match in which Cruz Azul lost 1-2 to Portmore United. Cruz Azul recovered with a 4-0 victory in the second leg held at Estadio Azteca, where Guillermo Allison was the goalkeeper.

That Concacaf Champions League match is the only one Jurado has played with the main squad of Cruz Azul, as in the presence of Jesús Corona, he has made eight appearances in the Sub-20 team, with three wins, four defeats, and one draw, conceding 15 goals.
