Jefferson Montero, World Cup player with Ecuador in Brazil-2014 and champion with Tri at the Pan American Games Rio de Janeiro-2007, was officially announced this Friday as the new player of Gallos Blancos de Querétaro, a club that plays in the first division of Liga MX.

The Ecuadorian winger becomes the first reinforcement of the Querétaro team for the Clausura-2021 tournament in Mexican soccer.

"FIRST REINFORCEMENT! @JeffMONTERO23 is a Gallo! Welcome to your new home", Querétaro posted on their official channels and attached an image of Jeff dressed in the team's uniform.

With his contract ready, the Ecuadorian international will enter his third stage in Mexican football after playing in England.

Montero played in Liga MX on two occasions, with Dorados de Sinaloa in 2008 and with Monarcas from 2012 to 2014, the latter stage being the one that led him to sign with the Welsh Swansea City in the Premier League.

Turbina has been in Mexican soil for six days and came from England, where he resided and played his last matches for Birmingham City in the English second division (Championship). In that club, he was loaned by the Welsh Swansea City until mid-this year.

The footballer born in the province of Los Ríos ended his contract with Swansea on June 30th and the British team released him from his duties in Birmingham, which also did not renew the Ecuadorian's contract.

In mid-this year, there were already speculations about Montero's possible return to the Mexican league, specifically to Toluca. He was also linked to Arab football.

Another Ecuadorian international, Antonio Valencia, could land in Querétaro, according to sources consulted by EL UNIVERSO.

Emelec, Real Betis, Villarreal, Swansea City, and West Bromwich are some of the teams that he played for. (D)
