Baca puts an end to the rumors of his departure as he will sign his renewal with the team this Friday
Midfielder Rafael Baca will sign a contract renewal with Cruz Azul this Friday, putting an end to the rumors that placed him out of the team in the winter transfer market.
The 31-year-old midfielder has been part of the cement club since the Clausura 2014 and is one of the longest-serving players on the team after captains Jesús Corona and Julio César Domínguez.
Baca's new contract with Cruz Azul extends for two more years, until December 2022, and sources confirmed to ESPN that after Friday's practice, around noon, the Mexican-American player will sign his name on the new contract alongside sporting director Jaime Ordiales.

In this Guard1anes 2020, Baca has played 10 matches, 8 of them as a starter, with a total of 691 minutes. However, he has only had 16 minutes on the field from Matchday 9 to 16, as he lost his place to Uruguayan José Ignacio Rivero.
Recognized as one of the most professional and beloved players within the team, Baca has battled COVID-19 this semester, testing positive in June and October. However, he has already recovered and is training with the first team for the Liguilla.
