Vucetich decided to give Gudiño a chance in goal for Chivas in the Clásico Nacional following the criticism of Toño Rodríguez after his mistakes in the last matches
Víctor Manuel Vucetich finally opted for Raúl Gudiño as the starting goalkeeper for Chivas in the upcoming Saturday's Clásico Nacional against América, beating Antonio Rodríguez in the competition.
According to information revealed by sources close to ESPN, Raúl Gudiño trained with the starting eleven this week, so Vucetich will continue to give him the opportunity over Antonio Rodríguez.
In the past days, the coach of Chivas revealed that alternating both goalkeepers in the team's goal could be a possibility, considering that the competition would contribute to the growth of both players.
"Without a doubt, I believe that having internal competition is important in sports. The goalkeepers we have give me confidence that they are at a good level. It is a possibility, the decision will be made at the right time, but it is a possibility that can be handled in this way because competition is fundamental. I need to see which player is showing more growth and is in a better moment. It is a daily work, but this possibility can fit," revealed Vucetich in a press conference last Tuesday.
However, despite the doubt that existed regarding the choice of goalkeeper, sources close to the team confirmed that Vucetich and his coaching staff did not consider Gudiño's mistake against Necaxa in the last match as serious, so they support the goalkeeper to appear as a starter against América.
Chivas will conclude their preparations tomorrow and travel to Mexico City for the match against América on Saturday. It will be the first game in which the team has full squad in the current Guard1anes 2020 Tournament.
