Santos continues to claim lack of payment for the signing of Djaniny Tavares by Al Ahli Saudi Arabia.

The name of Cape Verdean player Djaniny Tavares appears in a dispute over unpaid fees involving Santos Laguna and Al Ahli, from Saudi Arabia, a case that has reached FIFA and TAS, as they are about to begin the signings for the 2020-2021 season.

On one hand, Al Ahli has not finished paying the Mexican team for the acquisition of the attacker who was the top goal scorer in the Clausura 2018 of the Liga BBVA MX. The transfer was made immediately after the laguneros were crowned two years ago in Mexican football.

Pedro Cordeiro, representative of Djaniny Tavares, stated to ESPN Digital that "Al Ahli Jeddah always failed to comply with the contract conditions with Santos, to whom they still owe money".

Almost a week after the player was released from Al Ahli due to breach of contract, the situation is already being analyzed by FIFA and TAS, both in Switzerland, according to Pedro Cordeiro.

In the face of this situation, Pedro Cordeiro added that Al Ahli cannot sign new players due to the debt it has with Santos Laguna, while Djaniny can sign with whoever he wants, although he is waiting for his recent team to cover the owed salaries.

Djaniny's representative hopes that the issue is resolved quickly and that his player can receive the money he has earned and can change teams peacefully, because he insisted, "he is a free agent".

Additionally, he explained that "Soccer Promaster (the company he represents) had several meetings in Dubai and London with Al Ahli representatives. We have full respect for Al Ahli, in fact, this club has stated that the situation is not the player's fault, who did everything to fulfill his obligations to the club".

Cordeiro omitted the specific amount of the debt owed by the Saudi team to Santos Laguna, calling it "confidential".
