The forward felt discomfort, which is why the club decided not to risk him before the start of the tournament.

The forward José Juan Macías left the field at halftime of the Clásico Nacional between América and Chivas in the Copa por México, giving way to Ángel Zaldívar as a precautionary measure ahead of the upcoming Guard1anes 2020 tournament.

Macías had a good first half, scoring the first goal just 19 seconds into the game, making it the fastest goal in the history of the Clásicos.

However, the 20-year-old national forward was substituted at halftime, although sources within the club ruled out a serious injury and stated that it was purely a precautionary measure.

"He did mention some discomfort, but nothing serious. It's our final stage of preseason and next week is just before the start of the tournament, so there's no need to take unnecessary risks. We had substitutes available and we decided to take out José Juan Macías," said Salvador Reyes, assistant to Luis Fernando Tena, in press conferences after the match.

Macías was replaced by Ángel Zaldívar, who returned to the team during this transfer window.
