Official: "Shaggy" Martinez is Cruz Azul's second signing for the Apertura 2020
Mexican right-back José Joaquín Martinez Valadez, known as "Shaggy" Martinez, has signed a contract as a new player for Cruz Azul after passing the medical examination, as announced by the Liga MX team.
He is the second reinforcement of Cruz Azul to face the Apertura 2020 of the Liga MX, after Ignacio Rivero, a midfielder from Xolos.
Martinez played last season on loan for the now-defunct Monarcas Morelia from Pachuca, the team with which he ended his contract on June 30. The player was formed in Club América, then loaned to Club Zacatepec before returning to Coapa.
In 2012, he signed with Necaxa, where he played more than 100 games for three seasons. In 2015, he was transferred to Pachuca, the club to which he belonged until his arrival at La Máquina.
Before being loaned last season, Monarcas also spent half a year in Zacatecas, from January to June 2017. "Shaggy" was a champion of the Liga MX in his second tournament with Pachuca. In addition, he won the championship of the Ascenso MX league with Mineros Zacatecas.
