The continuity in the Mexican national team player's time in América is still uncertain, after being separated and then reintegrated to the club's practices, for being involved in a domestic violence case, in which he would have assaulted his then partner. The newspaper Mediotiempo has published that there is a possibility for him to leave the blue cream team and that his destination could be León.
According to the daily, the Argentine-Mexican midfielder Rubens Sambueza, who plays for León, has spoken with Miguel Herrera, América's coach, to analyze his return to the club, where he wishes to retire as a professional. One of the options to make his transfer happen would be an exchange with Ibarra, 29 years old.
Fernández declared on the Mexican radio station W Deportes: "I will be honest, we have our spots for foreign players covered. Renato is a good player and Nacho (DT Ignacio Ambriz), of course, would not dislike it, he would love it. Renato would bring strength to the team. We are not closed to any negotiation." (D)
