Erick Castillo would say goodbye to Santos Laguna, Guillermo Almada's former coach at Barcelona SC, after finishing his loan at the end of June and would return to Xolos de Tijuana. The cause is the advancement of the pandemic and the economic crisis that Mexican clubs are facing.

The advance of Covid-19 strongly impacted the clubs' economy. Mexico had to restructure its tournament for the coming years, there will be no relegation or promotion and limited the number of foreign players per team. This economic crisis, due to the break caused by Covid-19, also affected Castillo's future in Santos: "Erick Castillo has a very high option and at some point it was thought that it could be bought, but with all this problem we are experiencing, it is difficult to pay that amount. Also, Xolos is requiring his services, it is difficult," confirmed Guillermo Almada on Radio La Redonda.

La Culebra arrived at Xolos in 2018 from Barcelona SC, in a 2 million dollar transaction. In 2019, the Tijuana team would loan him to Santos Laguna, where he would share the team with his compatriots Ayrton Preciado and Félix Torres.

If Santos does not pay the clause, the player who would take his place would be Ayrton Preciado, who has had little playing time in the Uruguayan's team due to physical complications: "Ayrton Preciado has suffered a lot with his shin problem, but we have high hopes of recovering him now, undoubtedly he is a great player and we will recover him," said the ex-Torero's coach.
