The directive of Leones Negros from the UdeG, who have openly expressed their dissatisfaction with the change in the model of the Mexican soccer's second division, which has mutated from Ascenso MX to Liga de Desarrollo, revealed that they have not been invited to be part of the work meetings for the creation of the model of the new circuit in the making.
In an interview with ESPN Radio Formula, the president of the university entity, Alberto Castellanos, revealed that they have not been considered to join said meetings.
"We do not have conditions, we are not invited to the work meetings, we are not part of the construction of the new league model, and we are going to the last instance we have," said Castellanos when informing that they will go to TAS.
About the process in which they will go to the global governing body of the sport, he offered an expectation about the duration that the process could take.
"An express scenario would take four months, a medium one eight, and in one of those cases it would take a year and a half for a process like this, that is why we have decided that next season we will have to participate because we have contracts signed with 22 players, they are acquired, we cannot stop and we will be participating in the new league but in parallel we will continue with the issue in the corresponding instances," informed the university executive.
He also indicated that the Liga MX has already deposited a sum of five million pesos so that the clubs of the extinct Liga de Ascenso can meet their financial obligations until the end of the season.
"That money was deposited to all the teams, it is for the issue of this season that it is regrettable that in the end a rescue is done, in quotes, of the season so that everyone can fulfill commitments, but we do not continue in the sports part. The return of Liga MX is planned, but for us the possibility is canceled. The main goal was to prevent anyone from ascending this year in a sporting way," said Castellanos.
