MEXICO -- The legal department of FIFA, after analyzing the letter sent by the Mexican Association of Professional Footballers (AMFpro), suggested that the issue of the Ascenso MX is of national character, so now an appeal must be made to the FMF to then be able to attend the TAS, informed a source close to those involved.
The letter was received by FIFA on May 5th and was sent to the legal department of the organization for analysis.
After a review, it was determined that the matter is national. One of the points criticized in the letter sent by AMFpro is that it was only informative, it did not have any demands.
Meanwhile, the Mexican Association of Professional Footballers believes that this is good news, since FIFA informed them that they had received the letter and they assure that with this they "opened the doors" to continue their fight to avoid the abolition of promotion and relegation for more than six years.
The suspension of promotion and relegation for six years in the Liga MX was an issue that FIFA was already aware of, as reported by ESPN in previous weeks, although they were waiting for it to be official to take a stance on the matter.
