MEXICO -- Leones Negros, a team that belonged to the Ascenso MX, announced through a press release that they will consult their team of lawyers to take legal action after the Liga MX announced that there will be no promotion or relegation for the next six years.
"The Leones Negros board of the University of Guadalajara will analyze, with a team of lawyers, the validity and legality of the decisions made and, in the coming days, we will announce our position in this regard, as well as the actions we will take, always within the framework of the law," the statement from the Guadalajara team states.

In the statement, the team rejects the idea of the Liga de Desarrollo, as they consider that the 20 million pesos that each team will receive does not compare to what they earned in the Ascenso MX, in addition to losing the hope of one day returning to the top league.
"In this matter, there were many authorized voices of players, coaches, and analysts who expressed their opposition to the disappearance or suspension of promotion and relegation, and yet they were not heard. There is only one law and one truth: theirs. Force prevails over reason," the statement concludes.
ESPN Digital has learned that one of the options being considered by the leadership of Leones Negros is to resort to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS), the highest sports tribunal.
