The Ascenso MX had a contract with the same bank that sponsors the Liga BBVA MX until 2021. In June 2019, they renewed the contract for two more years. However, since that league disappeared to create a new one, that contract may not be fulfilled. In addition, FIFA is aware of the situation, but they are waiting for more information before taking a position.
"Starting from the Apertura 2019 tournament until 2021, the bank will continue to sponsor the Liga BBVA MX, Ascenso BBVA MX, and Liga BBVA MX Femenil," the Liga MX announced in July 2019.
The bank began sponsoring the Ascenso MX in 2015 and in 2019, they also became the main ally of the Liga MX Femenil. The bulletin sent by the Mexican Football Federation to inform about the absence of promotion and relegation for six years also clarifies the formation of a new league.
"The details of the structure and regulations of the new league will be defined in the coming days through working groups for this purpose," the bulletin states, ratifying the agreements in the General Assembly of the Mexican Football Federation.
It has also been learned that FIFA is paying attention to the decision to suspend promotion and relegation in the FMF and Liga MX, but they have not made a public statement yet. They were waiting for official information to be expanded on the topic.
