The former coach of the U-17 Mexican National Team explained the reasons why he didn't take the forward to the U-17 World Cup in Peru 2005.

MEXICO -- Jesús Ramírez, who had a stage as a coach in Mexico's National Youth Teams, does not regret leaving Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez out of the Peru 2005 U-17 World Cup.

10 years after Javier Hernandez moved to Europe, Jesús Ramírez affirms that he does not regret it because "in those moments you have to make decisions. The internal competition was quite complicated because there were Giovani, Vela, 'Chicharito' and Ever Guzman, and Ever ended up being the runner-up scorer of the World Cup," he declared to ESPN Digital.

Jesús Ramírez pointed out that in the end, "you choose players with different characteristics to complete the squad and give it mobility. In this case, at that time, I decided not to take Javier, but I did take him to the U-20 World Cup and Ever Guzman did not go," added who later made that U-17 National Team World Champion 15 years ago.

"Sometimes the processes are different; one gets to go and the other doesn't. I have heard him say that it was very difficult, very tough to be left out, but he played in the next World Cup and I took him. That's how it is, you have to make decisions. I think the process has been good for both of them."

Ramírez, currently the sports president of Pumas, disagrees with the criticisms that Javier Hernandez receives, as well as considering him a mediocre player or limited player.

"Despite all that they criticize him, he played in Europe and did it in good teams. I, on the contrary, applaud him for everything he was able to achieve in this time."

Chucho Ramírez knows the Guadalajara forward very well, as he coached him since the U-13 level in the Mexican national team.

"He started the whole process in the Youth Teams and always went up; he was a guy with a lot of persistence, with a mentality of being there. He was the classic goal scorer. He had very different characteristics, of doing weird things in the area, of scoring great goals no matter what. I mean, classic, classic of those goal-scoring center forwards who are in the area in any way. I had the chance to share with him for several years, from the age of 13 until we went to the U-20 World Cup (in Canada 2007)," he indicated.
