MEXICO -- The president of Liga MX, Enrique Bonilla, stated that he is not worried about Mexican players moving to American football after the transfers of Alan Pulido and Rodolfo Pizarro.
"No, we do not consider it talent leakage. It's the players' decision and it benefits both them and our league. We believe that we should focus on creating opportunities for more players to leave our league and learn from other experiences," he declared.
Similarly, he reiterated that it is due to market competition and Mexican youth players need to face those who were not formed in Mexico that are in Liga MX first.
"It's not talent leakage. I think it's positive for them to go out and compete in different environments. They should first compete internally against our invested players and players from other leagues who come to challenge Mexican youth players," he expressed.
Furthermore, Bonilla recalled that Mexico was one of the countries that contributed the most players in the last FIFA World Cup in Russia. "It's said that second and third-line players come here, but in Russia, we were among the top 10 leagues that contributed the most players, and that should also be taken into account," he added.
