Ángel Mena was chatting with José Juan Macías when the Chivas striker was in León. It was a conversation between what were perceived as the present and future of the Esmeraldas' attack. Suddenly, there was silence and the advice from the current top scorer of the Clausura 2020 for the young Mexican: "Mena told me something, the defenders in the area leave," recalls the now Guadalajara striker.

Mena pointed towards one of the goal areas at the Nou Camp stadium and continued explaining to the 20-year-old: "Sometimes you rush too much to receive and shoot, but if you receive and do a feint, the defenders will leave," explained the Ecuadorian who played 100 games in Mexico and joined the Esmeraldas for free a year ago.

The South American is the top scorer of the tournament with five goals, and in three seasons he has scored 26 goals as a forward for León. He left Cruz Azul because he didn't adapt to Pedro Caxinha's style, "because the Portuguese wanted to play him on the right," analyzes Francisco Gabriel de Anda, and with Ignacio Ambriz "he plays more freely, which is why he shines even more," he adds.

Macías, who scored 16 goals alongside the Ecuadorian in León, remembers "Mena scored many goals like that, he feinted as if he was going to shoot, cut inside, and made it look very easy." Mena assured the Chivas striker, "If you improve that aspect, you'll tire of scoring goals."

Now, Macías is the forward for the Mexican National Team, and Mena is considered the best attacker in the Liga BBVA MX.
