CF Monterrey announces record sale of the club: Pizarro signs with Inter Miami
CF Monterrey Rayados confirmed the departure of player Rodolfo Pizarro (photo, 25) to Inter Miami in the MLS after the footballer unilaterally terminated his contract with CF Monterrey Rayados, which was set to expire in June 2023. Pizarro will continue his career in the new American franchise based in Miami.
The Miami club, owned among others by David Beckham, paid the release clause of Mexican international Pizarro, which is around $12 million (approximately €11 million), to sign the most valuable player in Liga MX.
According to journalists Rubén Rodríguez and Raúl Guzmán, an additional $4.5 million in taxes generated by the operation must be added to the $12 million.

This makes the attacking midfielder the third most expensive signing in MLS history, behind the transfer of Argentine winger Gonzalo 'Pity' Martínez from River Plate to Atlanta United for €14.5 million, and the transfer of Argentine winger Ezequiel Barco from Independiente to Atlanta for €12.28 million.
Pizarro's sale, Monterrey's all-time biggest transfer
Furthermore, Pizarro's sale represents the all-time biggest transfer for Monterrey, surpassing the transfer of Colombian player Dorlán Pabón, who was signed by Valencia CF six seasons ago for €8 million.
Pizarro has moved over €40 million in transfers
With the third major signing of his career, Rodolfo Pizarro has generated over €40 million. He previously moved from Chivas to Pachuca in a transfer worth around €14.75 million. His subsequent move to Monterrey was valued at €14.5 million.
Thus, the attacking midfielder is the fourth Mexican player who has generated the most money in his career, only behind Raúl Jiménez, Chicharito, and Hirving Lozano.
