Iván Santillán, Peruvian footballer, leaves Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz
29-year-old Iván Santillán, a Peruvian footballer, has ceased to belong to the Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz, a Mexican institution that is going through economic problems and that in recent months has stopped paying its players.
Despite the difficulties with salaries, the national player was able to collect the debt that the Mexican club owed him after resorting, along with some teammates, to the Mexican Football Federation (FMF).
"I will return to my country to be with my family," said the footballer to Depor, while denying "disappearing" from the club, as claimed by the Mexican portal Mediotiempo based on "a source close to Veracruz".
"I didn't run away from anything," clarified Santillán, who became a free agent and chose to leave the club before the end of the semester.
It is worth remembering that Iván Santillán joined the Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz in early 2019. The "León" arrived at the Mexican team from Real Garcilaso with a three-season contract.
