MEXICO - Miguel Herrera, coach of America, confessed that Giovani Dos Santos told him that the play in which Antonio Briseño injured him "is a silly play, not dirty".
"Gio also told me that it seems more clumsy, that it's a silly play, not an intentional one, it seems to me that it's more clumsy", commented Miguel Herrera, coach of the Águilas, in Futbol Picante.
El Piojo added that 'Pollo' Briseño got in touch with Gio after the classic match between America and Chivas, and they don't know if the directive will protest the four-game suspension for the Guadalajara player.
"I'm very sure that Briseño had no intention. Obviously, there had to be a sanction. You can't complain before a sanction, the regulations have already removed the part of disqualification of players, I don't know if it's fair or not, but it seems to me that Briseño's play is imprudent. He goes with the intention of going strong, not with the intention of injuring someone", added the coach of the Azulcremas.
It is expected that Giovani will be back in six weeks.
Regarding Francisco Cordova's performance, the coach highlighted that the homegrown player has met expectations and will continue to count on him.
"We gave him all the confidence again, he knows perfectly well what I expect and he is a homegrown player that we are thinking a lot about. He is responding very well, with effort, with goals, results, that leaves us very calm, knowing that he leaves us in a very good position", he concluded.
