MEXICO - Former Pumas player, Alejandro Arribas, has become the majority partner of Rayo Majadahonda, the club where he developed as a footballer. The curious thing is that the defender is still active with Real Oviedo, the team he signed with during the last transfer window.

In statements to the official website of the club, which currently plays in the Second Division B, Arribas, who defended the colors of Pumas during the 2018/19 season, said he feels happy to be able to support the club that helped him have a career in football.

"What better way to start and finish a professional career than in the club where you have grown as a footballer and, above all, as a person. For me, it is a privilege to be here and, in the future, when I retire from football, I will be able to help in other ways so that the team continues to grow," he expressed.

On the other hand, the Spanish center-back stated that he will keep an eye on the club, but clarified that his father, Pedro Arribas, will take the reins of the institution and in that way he can continue focused on his commitments with Oviedo, the team with which he signed a contract until 2021.

"For desire, work, and enthusiasm, it will not be lacking. Let people have a little patience, it is a new project, things will be done well, we will work hard for it," he said.

Arribas' decision recalls the case of Barcelona player, Gerard Piqué, who bought FC Andorra through his company, Kosmos Holding, and currently the club plays in the Second Division B.

Alejandro Arribas has played two matches with Real Oviedo in the current season and if Oviedo fails to promote to the First Division and Rayo secures their spot in the Second Division A, the teams will face each other next season.
