Javier Chicharito Hernández has been called up along with Jesús Manuel Corona and Héctor Herrera, who were absent from the Gold Cup, for the friendlies that the Mexican national team will play against the United States and Argentina in September. The English West Ham striker returns to the 'Tri' after six months.
The National Team Directorate of the Mexican Football Federation announced on Tuesday the inclusion of the three players in the list of 31 that Martino will count on to face the Americans on September 6 in New Jersey and Argentina on the 10th in San Antonio.
Hernández, from the English West Ham United, refused to play in the Gold Cup to be present for the birth of his son; Corona, from Porto, had declined a previous call-up and Martino left him out of the Gold Cup, where Herrera was also absent because he requested time to finalize his transfer to Atlético Madrid.
The trio is part of the group of 13 players from foreign leagues who have been called up, including forwards Hirving Lozano from Italian Napoli and Raúl Jiménez from English Wolverhampton, midfielders Andrés Guardado from Spanish Real Betis and Erick Gutiérrez from Dutch PSV Eindhoven, and defender Édson Álvarez from Ajax.
The players who belong to the Mexican league will gather next Sunday at Mexico City Airport to travel to New Jersey where they will meet up with those who play in foreign leagues.
