Argentinian defender Nicolás Sánchez, who has established himself as one of the main figures of Monterrey in recent seasons, announced the renewal of his contract with the northern team until December 2021.
In a press conference, Sánchez, who arrived at Rayados in 2017, said he was happy to continue with the team and clarified that he was never afraid that the negotiations would fail. It is worth mentioning that the center-back's current contract was expiring at the end of the current season.
"The contract issue is already finished. I was always calm and we had been talking about it for a while, but luckily I have trustworthy people. Today I confirm that I am staying at the club for two more years," he said.
Nico, who has played over 100 matches for Rayados, acknowledged that he was able to reach his best level thanks to the opportunity his teammates gave him to take penalties, and it was crucial in overcoming the problems he experienced during his adaptation to Mexican soccer.

"The confidence I have and maintain is fundamental. The fact of taking penalties helped me a lot to gain confidence and I transferred it to a broad extent," he said.
On the other hand, Sánchez emphasized that the mentality of being a winning team has grown as the matches of the Apertura 2019 progress, and they have left behind the defeats they suffered in the early stages.
"After Saturday (vs. Toluca) what I felt was the team's ability to control the ball and we always had in mind to cause damage, that will be key to inflict damage on Santos on Friday," he said.
Rayados have won three consecutive matches against the Santos team in the Mexican League, scoring seven goals and keeping a clean sheet.
