Ángel Comizzo, coach of Universitario de Deportes, is remembered in Mexico for his time at León and, above all, for the penalty he caused in favor of Cruz Azul in a final match, with which the 'Celeste Machine' took advantage to score and become champion for the last time in its history.
More than 20 years have passed since that episode and Cruz Azul still lives with the disappointment of not being able to win another national title. And of course, Ángel Comizzo took the opportunity to make fun of the situation in an interview with FOX Sports Mexico.
"I said it one day, (at Cruz Azul) they won't be champions until I lead them, I told them! They don't believe it," said the current coach of Universitario de Deportes.
Undoubtedly, 'Comizzo's curse' on Cruz Azul impacted the Mexican media, who even labeled the Universitario coach as "abusive."
