MONTERREY - Duilio Davino, president of Rayados, admitted in a press conference that he would like the Dutchman Vincent Janssen to emulate the results of Tigres' French star, André-Pierre Gignac.
Davino acknowledged that what Gignac has done is good for Mexican soccer and although he pointed out that "comparisons are not good," he stated: "There is only one Gignac and (Rogelio) Funes Mori and (Humberto) Suazo, there will only be one. Hopefully he can come and perform as we all hope."
He maintained that "we are impressed by him because of the quality he has and the talent he has already shown, and we believe that he can regain it with us."
Furthermore, when asked about how complex it is to bring Europeans to Mexico, he said: "When a player has the opportunity, they normally decide to stay in Europe, except for these cases: Gignac, Vincent, who want other challenges and to compete elsewhere."
He added: "Comparisons are odious, hopefully we find more Gignac, and other Gignac's in the Mexican League. Players of that level, welcome."
The Monterrey executive admitted: "Gignac also helps to bring attention to players who have been in Europe and who are very happy here. The guy comes with a tremendous willingness and a desire to do things well in Mexico."
