GUADALAJARA -- Chivas defender Antonio Briseño is set to start in the match next Sunday, where the rojiblancos will host Tigres at Estadio Akron in a match of Round 2 of the Apertura 2019.
Briseño's inclusion is a response to the discomfort suffered by Hiram Mier in the match against Santos Laguna, which prevented him from starting in the match against Atletico Madrid.
This Thursday, Mier did not participate in the light practice that Chivas held in Verde Valle and which focused on the regeneration of the players after the trip from the United States.
The defender from Monterrey worked separately in the gym.
Two days before the match against the university team, there are greater chances for Tomás Boy to choose to play with a back line of five and with Briseño among the defenders.
"Right now, we have to look for the result, it's different, the others were preparation matches and that's how I saw them. The result helps us work more calmly," said Tomás Boy about his lineup after the team's return from Dallas.
Briseño showed interesting things in the match that Chivas played against Atletico Madrid and stood out for his performance in defense. Now an important door can open for him to occupy a place in the starting team.
"Since I arrived, I was ready, it's a process, it's not just about arriving, but earning your place. In my case, in the matches that I have played, I have tried to give my best, I'm happy and wherever I have to work," said Briseño.
However, although there were improvements in the last friendly match, there are still many aspects that Chivas needs to perfect for the upcoming league matches.
"We still need to work on details, we're always improving. The main thing is not to concede goals, which we have achieved, that's a big step. Playing against Atletico Madrid as an opponent makes you grow as a team and we have to continue in the same line," he explained.
