The participation of the Tiburones Rojos in the Apertura 2019 is still in doubt as the FMF does not have a record of payment to football players.

More than 15 players to whom Veracruz owes money and have registered the debt with the Mexican Soccer Federation, still have not received their payment as of today. This puts the participation of Tiburones Rojos in the Apertura 2019 in doubt.

The soccer players, as informed by an anonymous player, were told that they would receive their payment no later than Friday, otherwise Veracruz would not be able to start the tournament. As of 10:50 AM on July 19, 2019, they had not received any payment.

Due to this situation, Tiburones Rojos cannot register players for the Apertura 2019 and only 12 players appear on the Liga MX website for the team. There are no registered goalkeepers and only assistant coach Gonzalo Cigliuti is listed on the coaching staff. None of their reinforcements, such as Ángel Reyna and the Argentine players Gaspar Iñiguez and Federico Illanes, have been registered on the website.

The players claim that the documents recognizing the debts are signed by the presidents of the Conciliation and Resolution of Disputes Committee, Víctor Garza Valenzuela, and the Liga BBVA MX, Enrique Bonilla.

Among the list of players who have not received their payment, there are some who have been without money for over a year and they hope that the situation will be resolved soon. The next step is to turn to FIFA to resolve the situation if the Mexican Soccer Federation does not provide a solution for the players.
