MONTERREY -- Argentine full-back Leonel Vangioni, of Rayados de Monterrey, acknowledged today that the team has taken time to adapt to coach Diego Alonso's system, but they will carry it out in the Apertura 2018.

"Every change has an adaptation process, but we work to iron out things. We need to solve some things, mistakes we make. Diego asks us to play out from the back and to move to give our teammates options to receive the ball, it's a nice idea of the game and we try to adapt as quickly as possible," said Vangioni.

In a press conference, the South American player recalled that Monterrey is ready to compete starting next Sunday when they will face Necaxa in California for the Supercopa MX title.

"This Sunday the important things start, we have had great preparation, we trained hard and we arrived in the best way," he added.

Monterrey was the team with the most points in Mexican football in the last two years, but they couldn't win any titles; the closest they got was in the last Apertura 2017 where they lost the final against their arch-rival Tigres.

After that, the team was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Clausura tournament, which caused the departure of Argentine coach Antonio Mohamed, replaced by Uruguay's Alonso.

"Sometimes we can achieve the game plan, sometimes it's difficult. We have just enough days to be 100% ready for Sunday," he added.

About the arrival of Jesus Gallardo to the team, a member of the Mexican national team in the World Cup in Russia and who will compete for a position with Vangioni, he celebrated the signing of the defender because he is a quality player who will contribute to the group.

"Having players of hierarchy join the team is always good; it makes the group stronger. It's great because we all want to play and we will compete fairly for the spot and we will grow. We will try to make Jesus feel comfortable; the most important thing is the team," Vangioni emphasized.
