Chilean attacker Nicolás Castillo to end his contract with Pumas and join Benfica

Chilean attacker Nicolás Castillo will officially put an end to his link with Pumas, and in the next few days he will report to Benfica to sign a new contract and continue his career in European football.

According to the Portuguese press, Castillo has already left the capital Santiago de Chile to travel to Lisbon, where he will arrive this Monday to immediately seal a contract for the next three seasons. In addition, he will have to undergo the corresponding medical examinations and could be presented as a new player for the 'Águilas' during the week.

Castillo said goodbye to some Pumas teammates and fans once the team was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Clausura 2018 Tournament of the Liga MX at the hands of América.

In his home country, he expressed his intention to return to Europe, where he previously played in Belgium, in search of a new challenge and to fulfill his dream of competing in the UEFA Champions League, which he will do if he completes his transfer to Benfica, a team that recently finished as runners-up in the Primeira Liga and has Mexican attacker Raúl Jiménez among its ranks.

'Nico' Castillo scored 25 goals in the Liga MX and one in the Copa MX during his time with Club Universidad Nacional, where he could not become champion neither individually as the top scorer.
