MEXICO -- Argentine midfielder Iván Marcone successfully passed the physical and medical tests, becoming the first reinforcement for Cruz Azul in the Apertura 2018.
Marcone, 27, former player of Lanús, will sign a contract this afternoon with the blue management and then return to his home country, take vacations, and report on June 4th to La Noria to begin preseason.
On the other hand, ESPN confirmed that the management of Cruz Azul is closely following Pablo Aguilar and Gustavo Bou, players from Xolos de Tijuana.
Paraguayan Aguilar, 31, was a key player for Águilas del América during Ricardo Peláez's administration at the club and is a player who is liked by Cruz Azul due to his great experience, discipline, and mental and physical strength.
Meanwhile, Argentine Bou, 28, has scored 10 goals in 2 short tournaments with Xolos de Tijuana and could also be an alternative to reinforce the team's attack.
The operations, according to a source from ESPN, are different, so it doesn't necessarily mean that both players would arrive at Cruz Azul.
Darío Aimar's Situation
On the other hand, Darío Aimar could also be signed by Cruz Azul but would be immediately loaned out since he is currently not part of the first team's plans.
The 23-year-old Ecuadorian defender, still a player for Barcelona SC in his country, has been followed for several months by former sports director of Cruz Azul, Eduardo de la Torre, whose administration would have signed a pre-agreement with Barcelona to sign Aimar this summer.
