Santos confirmed this week the definitive purchase of Uruguayan Brian Lozano, the midfielder who when he was a bench player in América hardly had a contract until 2021 in Mexican football.
Now an indisputable starter on the team, with the Águilas he only played once as a starter in the six matches he played, during the only six months he was in Coapa, where he mostly played for the Sub-20.
The Uruguayan, a key piece in Robert Dante Silboldi's team, barely played 115 minutes in 17 matchdays at América. That is, he only played seven percent of the total regular phase minutes in the Clausura 2016.
This data contrasts with his current performance with the Guerreros, as he played in 16 out of 17 matches during the regular phase of the Clausura 2018, 12 of them as a starter, for a total of 1,055 minutes.
The only match he did not play was in Matchday 1, in the victory against Lobos BUAP, completing six matches in the regular season and the last two in the Quarterfinals against Tigres.
"We are very happy that he will stay with us for three more years and it was the fans who asked us to make this effort and we are very happy," said José Riestra, Vice President of Football at Club Santos, after announcing the definitive purchase on Tuesday.
The Santos jersey is the fourth one the South American has defended at the age of 24. He made his professional debut at Defensor Sporting in Uruguay, in 2016 he moved to América, a club that loaned him to Nacional for a year, and then he returned to Mexico, this time to the Comarca Lagunera.
Lozano was part of the Uruguayan U-22 National Team that won the gold medal at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, and that same year he was called up to play two matches with the senior national team, against Panama and Costa Rica.
